Linear shaft support unit is a tool used to support and direct rotating shafts. It usually consists of two metal plates attached on opposite side of the shaft, which allows it to rotate freely. The shaft is put into a groove in the plates, which has been carved out to allow for movement while yet supporting and guiding it. A mounting method, such as screws or bolts, is used to secure the unit in place. Linear shaft support unit is employed in equipment that has to support enormous weights or in applications that call for accurate linear movement, such robotics and automation.
